Utah's First Monologue Competition

As a participant, you will have up to 3 minutes to perform a monologue of your choice; from a play, film, television series or original work. You will perform in front of a panel of professional casting directors, artistic directors, agents, producers as well as a live audience of your peers, friends and family.  Monologue Monday Competition: Rules and Regulations

As a participant, you will have up to 3 minutes to perform a monologue of your choice; from a play, film, television series or original work. You will perform in front of a panel of professional casting directors, artistic directors, agents, producers as well as a live audience of your peers, friends and family. Best of all, the WINNER of the night walks away with $100 cash.

When: 3RD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH RETURNING JANUARY 18, 2016
Where: The Acoustic Space 124 South 400 West Salt Lake City Ut 84101

Entry Fee: Price of admission $7

Submission: Submit a headshot/resume, copy of the monologue you have selected and a 30 second video clip of you performing your monologue to radhosutah@gmail.com. Subject line: MM Submission.

Entry Deadline: The deadline for submissions is Sunday prior to event @ 5 pm.

Officially Selected Participants will be notified no later then 9 am on the day of the event. 2-3 reserve participants will be notified as well in case the initial selection does not show up. So, be ready to impress.

Competition Registration/Submission

Registration will be based on a pre-screening process. Video submission should Not be longer than 1 minute. The video can be from any mobile device and need not be highly professional. Participants must include a written copy of the monologue they have chosen to give to our script supervisor.

Selected participants are expected to sign in with our script supervisor no later than 7pm on JANUARY 18, 2016. Talent call time is 6:45pm

Reserve List: Getting to the event early is highly suggested. If we have not filled all available slots by 7pm we will choose a reserve to fill the slot. All reserves will receive a special package of benefits as an appreciation of their time if not selected to perform.

Slots: We are limited to 15 slots. Spots fill up fast, send your submission ASAP.

Judging
Participants will be judged by a panel of experts on: emotional connection to the material, diction and proper use of dialect (if one is used), use of stage and space and commitment to the performance.

Judges will eliminate all participants up to the last 3 based on a points scale. Each category is based on a 1-10 point system. The three highest accumulative scores from the judges panel will move on to the crowd vote.

The audience will select the final winner from the 3 through interactive polling. Be sure to let your fan base know you will be competing.

RULES

1)  Each participant will have no more than 3 minutes to perform the monologue of their choice. Your time can naturally end at the 3 minutes or by a 'Thank You' when you are finished. You will be stopped at the 3 minute mark. If you go over your allotted time, points will be deducted.

2) A script supervisor will be on hand to make sure you stay on script. Points will be deducted for missing 3 or more sentences of your script, or over adlibing.

3) Monologues are chosen by the participants but, we ask that you keep profanity down to a minimum.

4) In the event of a tie: participants will be given a 30 second cold read monologue. In which they will be given 10 minutes to prepare.
